Meet Your Coach

Picture of Your Coach

Jamilah Mogharbel, PhD

My Brief Story

Since 2008, I've worked in education as a researcher, consultant, private tutor/ teacher/instructor (middle school, high school, and undergraduate), and, most recently, a school psychologist. While a majority of my experiences have centered around helping children and adolescents, a large part of my work also involved consulting and collaborating with parents, educators, and community service providers. I quickly realized that, oftentimes, the adults themselves struggled with the very skills they were trying to teach or model to children. This ultimately inspired me to become an executive functioning coach for adults in hopes of having a more positive impact on future generations.

My Credentials

I obtained my BS in Biology, Teaching Diploma in Secondary Science Education, and MA in School Guidance and Counseling from the American University of Beirut, and my PhD in School Psychology from The Ohio State University. I'm currently licensed as an independent school psychologist in Ohio; however, I'm no longer practicing in that capacity.

My Approach

I believe that using a “one-size-fits-all” model can be limiting. While there is merit in evidence-based strategies, they don't always neatly translate to real-life situations. Life is messy and we're complex beings at different life stages and readiness levels and with various skill sets. As a coach, I strive to cater to your unique needs, strengths, and limitations by utilizing my professional knowledge and experiences as guidelines rather than unbendable rules. I also believe that one of the essential components of personal development and long-lasting change is understanding the underlying motives of our behaviors, which is why my approach focuses on cultivating self-awareness by encouraging introspection through thought-provoking questions.

The path to change often isn't linear, especially when we're trying to replace unconstructive habits or patterns that have been ingrained in us for years or even decades. I don't promise quick fixes, but I do promise to provide a supportive and compassionate space as you grow at your own pace to build long-term, actionable skills.
